I started using Slackware because I wanted a distribution with a
standard kernel as tested and released by the kernel developers and a
kernel to which Ingo Molnar's real-time preemption patches could be
applied. Slackware is still in DistroWatch.com's top 10 distributions
<http://distrowatch.com/dwres.php?resource=major> where it is cited as
"one of the cleanest and least buggy distributions available today". But
it's not fancy. Configuration is by editing text files, but at least you
don't wonder if a tool is buggy.
