However, ... running 'logwatch.pl --output stdout' does display the report on the console, so the problem seems to be back to an issue with sendmail rather than logwatch.pl. Yet, a few days ago the problem was the opposite: changing logwatch.conf output from stdout to mail worked; that suggested the issue was with logwatch.pl and not sendmail. It's quite distracting that the problem seems to vary from logwatch to sendmail. It would be great to pin down just where the process becomes constipated.
