I have a card reader that worked on Ubuntu 12, works on Linux Mint 13?, but doesn't work on Ubuntu 14.04. I haven't had time to do much research on the problem, but I recall seeing something about it. For now, I have to download photos from my camera's SD card to the Linux Mint laptop, copy then to a USB stick (something's wrong with networking -- again, which I also don't have time to fix), and sneaker-net them to my Ubuntu 14 desktop machine.
