   OK; I don't need the colon after the hostname. Yet, when I enter the
command on typha,
rshepard@typha $ ssh salmo
and provide my passphrase the prompt is still
rshepard@typha $
and I'm not connected.

   Adding verbosity does not help; after entering the passphrase I'm too
quicly returned to the local system's prompt.
