I do not believe that a USB to Ethernet dongle could change a USB printer to become a network printer without the printer's firmware modifications.
My advice is to use the included WiFi to connect the printer to your network. Or get a print server. * Your network router can act as print server. * You can buy cheap USB print server appliances for about $50. * You could also build your own for about $50-ish using raspberryPi - installing cups server Hope it helps, Tomas On Aug 29, 2017 5:11 PM, "Fred James" <fredj...@bell.net> wrote: > Looking for a replacement for an old HP LJ 4m+ > Most new printers in the low price end are wireless and USB, but not > Ethernet. > Anyone had any experience with the USB to Ethernet adapters for > connecting a USB printer to an LAN via Ethernet? > > My need is really a laser printer (toner) to print the occasional > envelope, thus the low price end. > Thanks > Regards > Fred James > > _______________________________________________ > PLUG mailing list > PLUG@lists.pdxlinux.org > http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug > _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list PLUG@lists.pdxlinux.org http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
