I used font forge to convert baker-signet.ttf to baker-signet.otf. These are the names in /usr/share/fonts/TTF and /usr/share/fonts/OTF, respectively. Then I ran 'fc-cache -fv' with these results:
/usr/share/fonts/OTF: caching, new cache contents: 127 fonts, 0 dirs /usr/share/fonts/TTF: caching, new cache contents: 184 fonts, 0 dirs /usr/share/fonts/Type1: caching, new cache contents: 64 fonts, 0 dirs /usr/share/fonts/misc: caching, new cache contents: 95 fonts, 0 dirs However, when I open the letterhead template in LO5 Writer, the only font name displayed is Baker (upper case 'B' and no signet). Highlighting the company name and contact information in the header and selecting Baker as the font changes the text. Until I quit the application and open it again. Then the header is gone. For a test I opened a new document, typed some text, highlighted it and selected the Baker font. The text disappeared. WTF?? If you have any ideas why 1) LO Writer does not display the font name as it appears in /usr/share/fonts/OTF/, 2) why the text in that typeface disappears instantly, and 3) how I can fix this, please share your knowledge with me.
