After 6 hours 40 minutes I stopped the transfer from /media/bkup1 to /mnt/hd and deleted /mnt/hd/salmo-root/.
Every file was removed but one. The source is /media/bkup1/salmo-root/20230520-0030/tree/.ccache/3/d/8a203b79706a7fd3dcbeb5c173e4e8-1341648.o. In the target the file is: /mnt/hd/bkup1/salmo-root/20230520-0030/tree/.ccache/3/d/8a203b79706a7fd3dcbeb5c173e4e8-134?648.o How the name was changed by inserting a '?' I've no idea. Root cannot delete this file, even if bracketed with "...". When root tries to mv the file to the source name the effort fails: # mv 8a203b79706a7fd3dcbeb5c173e4e8-134?648.o 8a203b79706a7fd3dcbeb5c173e4e8-1341648.o # mv: cannot move '8a203b79706a7fd3dcbeb5c173e4e8-134'$'\021''648.o' to '8a203b79706a7fd3dcbeb5c173e4e8-1341648.o': No such file or directory Why might this be happening? What can I do to remove the /mnt/hd/salmo-root/ directory with this one oddball file? TIA, Rich
