Ben was trying to tell me what was wrong, but I was deaf. There *IS* a
ubi version:

which somehow I was unable to see. All I could see was:

I clearly can't read while chewing gum. Also, the kernel panic, had I
looked closer, would have been a clue. It was failing to mount
/dev/mtdblock10, which shouldn't exist on the ubi firmware.
However, there *does* seem to be some persistent reboot problem.

Which is weird because BL2 has the same sha256sum as a clearly working

Summary:
A followup to the November meeting, this time Russell will demonstrate
installing OpenWrt on a Linksys E8450, a modern Wifi 6 device available for
pretty reasonable prices. He'll also demonstrate how to open the case and
install an externally accessible serial console connector. If you are
interested in obtaining an already OpenWrt-flashed E8450, there will be a

Russell Senior has been building OpenWrt from source for a variety of purposes
since about 2006 and has considerable knowledge about the ins and outs and
what-have-yous.
Venue:
PLUG is back at Portland State University. Thanks to the Computer Science
Department and to Andrew Greenberg for hosting us! The room is in the basement
of the PSU Engineering Building (also connected underground to the Fourth
Avenue Building, or FAB). Enter through the Engineering Building. The outside
door will be locked, but there should be someone present at the entrance to let
you in starting at 6:40pm until 7pm. There will be a sign on the door with a
phone number you can SMS if there isn't someone there to let you in immediately.
PS: We are going to need a volunteer to hang out by the outside door until
