rally around for the next clinic, and perhaps it could cross promote
with the Multnomah library or some other community organization.

and, for one, I'm not against getting listed as an event and we'd
certainly help anyone wanting to install linux on their formerly windows
computer. I think the last time I said I just didn't have time to
register, but if someone else wants to I'll happily review whatever
needs doing. For me, the Year of the Linux Desktop has been every year
since 1993, so I don't personally have an acute appreciation for the
attitudes of Windows users.

We list our events on calagator.org and our website, that's really about
it for promotion at the moment. If people have other venues to spread
the word, you are hereby deputized to do so. And please, let me know
where you did, just for situational awareness.

autonomy over their data. This isn't my original idea by any means,
but I saw someone from LA posting a few months ago about something
exactly like this and figured Portland was a great place for one
community to help others like this.
Maybe this has been discussed and even attempted already, but I
thought I'd check the pulse and see if there's interest for the clinic
to lead an install-fest or if other similar events are already out there.
We are happy to help people install Linux on their machines. They need
only bring their machines to the Clinic and someone will help them.

Another Clinic is in the books. We had 8 people show up, and although
there was not an overload of challenging problems, we did find things
to work on, including installing linux on a Chromebook, parsing
temperature data from the National Center for Environmental
Information, among others. We have a surplus of helpers, so please
spread the word to people who might benefit. Even with a low density
of helpees, it was fun to hang out and swap questions and share
suggestions.
The next Clinic will be Sunday, September 21. Mark your calendars!

The PLUG Linux Clinic returns again this month on August 17th, from
1pm-5pm, at Willamette University's space on the 2nd floor of the
Ecotrust Building. Thank you Willamette University, for hosting us!
Enter the building on the 10th Avenue side. If the outside door is
locked, you should be able to enter through the Hot Lips Pizza.
There is a stairway to the second floor. If the gate is locked,
look for a PLUG Clinic notice, it will have a phone number you can
SMS to have someone let you in. Also, the elevator should work.
Volunteer helpers are as desirable as helpees. Helping is fun and
rewarding. If you've ever helped out at a PLUG Clinic before, come
checkout the space!
We are informed that the off-street parking area (about 20-30
spaces) along the 10th Avenue side is open to the public on weekends.
