Thank you for replying (those of you who did)

Apparently there is enough difference between Leap 16.0 and the old Leap 15.5 to justify a fresh install.

That means I get to recompile my programs in the /home directory back into the user area as needed, but it is doable.

I just need to copy a critical directory structure in /usr concerning a certain math program, but other than that I can do it.

So looks like a fresh install .. yes taking hours.. oh well...

you should abandon it & migrate to Debian ;)

Hello:

I am nervous about upgrading from OpenSuse Leap 15.5 (which is no longer
supported) to Leap 16.0 (current version)

Should I simply do an upgrade?

Or should I wipe all the folders clean except the /home folder ?? and
let openSuse Leap 16.0 create brand new information upon doing the upgrade?

My concern is that all the old stuff will be dragged into this upgrade
and even more disk space be lost.

Any advice?
