I never did find an explanation of the change that resulted in the
mouse wheel changing the audio volume.  But recently it has changed
back so the to scrolling.  (Now if the cursor is over the speaker
widget icon, the mouse wheel changes the audio volume.  I don't
remember if this was the case before the first change.

Curiously I miss the mouse wheel changing the audio volume a little
bit some times (when I want to quickly lower the volume briefly).
My fingers will learn the current date in due time... Personally
I think the mouse wheel WITH a control key down casusing a change
volume would be ideal - I can hit control quicker and easier that
getting the mouse on the icon (and back to what I was doing).
