Immunix is just Red Hat 6.2 rebuilt with the StackGuard compiler.
StackGuard is a modified version of GCC which uses the processor
protection bits (e.g. similar to ElectricFence) so that stack overruns
will cause the program in question to dump core.

So basically it prevents stack-overrun exploits (using buffer
overflows) by automagically killing any program which violates its stack
segment.
