Yep, the ip_forwarding thing did the job. I remember setting /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward to "1", but I learned that it resets back to "0" everytime the machine is restarted. This was solved by either adding an init script or (the easier) editing of /etc/sysctl.conf and putting a "1" value to the "net.ipv4.ip_forward" line. Thanks to all who replied.
