well, it just means that fdisk /mbr clears the master boot record, but if
you did not install it in the master boot record then it would not work.
if you installed it in another partition then doing a fdisk /mbr would not
clear lilo because it do does not reside in the MBR.
what i mentioned below is just an assumption that you made the linux
partition bootable while the rest are not. in this case, you can simply
make the linux partition non-bootable and make the windows partition
bootable. this is of course true only if my assumption is correct.
