Hi there everyone,
Hardware:
- Acer Extensa 503T
- O2Micro OZ6832 controllers
- Kingmax EN10-T2T NIC
Software:
- Linux kernel 2.4.2
- pcmcia-cs 3.1.24
Brief:
My setup works. The pcmcia-cs package has been configured to use the
kernel's pcnet_cs and 8390 modules to deal with the Kingmax EN10-T2T NIC.
I noticed, though, that even if I'm supposedly not using the network, as
long as I am connected, my TX/RX LED keeps on flashing indicating traffic.
IPTraf reports that an average of 1.5 kbytes/sec or 7.3 packets/sec is
going through eth0. This consists of equal TCP and UDP traffic, and about
a hundred packets less of Non-IP traffic.
A quick check of /var/log/syslog.log shows lines like:
Mar 6 11:39:46 localhost kernel: eth0: interrupt(s) dropped!
Mar 6 11:41:57 localhost kernel: eth0: interrupt(s) dropped!
Mar 6 11:42:46 localhost kernel: eth0: interrupt(s) dropped!
Mar 6 11:43:53 localhost last message repeated 3 times
My ifconfig reports that for eth0, I have the following (some parts
omitted):
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MTU:1500 Metric:1
Interrupt:3 Base address:0x320
/proc/interrupts:
CPU0
3: 2 XT-PIC pcnet_cs
I've tried entering and leaving promiscuous mode, still to no avail. The
dropping of interrupt just keeps going and going and going.
Would anyone know why this is happening? And maybe someone's got a
suggestion as to what I can try to do to fix this?
Thanks a lot in advance!
--> Jijo
