hello all using mandrake 7.2 on 64mb gnome & kde performs awfully (hd keeps on reading, is that thrashing?) i want to uninstall the 2 but what packages? also, if i uninstall them, e.g. if i uninstall kde, will those k* applications still work on bare X or icewm? could i "downgrade" to the kde|gnome (only the wm) in rh6.2 but still run the newer apps? extra, i have rpms of sources here (for rh6.2) & i have tried compiling vim & installed it (before i installed mdk), does `make install` leave a log, because i can't `rpm -q -f` the files. is there a way to modify whatever database rpm is using to reflect those manually added things (e.g. make file "f" be associated with package "p" so that when i uninstall "p", "f" would also be deleted) tia __________________________________ www.edsamail.com _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
