I have a USB to serial converter which really doesn't have a driver in
the 2.2 backport (MCT U232P9) and a Billington USB Fast Ethernet.  Not
sure if the latter has a driver in the 2.2 kernels.  I also use the
hotplugging capabilities in 2.4 extensively...  I can just plug the
ethernet and cable into my laptop, and presto: it's instantly connected
to the office network!  I don't think the backport has hotplugging
capability that's as good.  Besides, I've already done a lot of work
reconfiguring the standard Red Hat 7 install to work with the new
kernel series (",)
