that might be because the current user that's logged in to the workstation
you're using to access your samba server has not been authenticated (i.e.,
the user logged on to the client is nonexistent in the user database of
your samba server).

what you could do is to add the user to your samba server (using useradd).
the next time you access the server, it would recognize that the user that
tries to log on to its resources exists on its user database, and would
subsequently show the resources (or folders) that are being shared.
