Hi fellow PLUGgers, I remember Orly asking awhile back as to how ReiserFS's journalling could be turned off (as he needed to chown and/or chmod 2+ million files and that meant a LOT of metadata journalling). Recently I asked the ReiserFS mailing list for information on ReiserFS's various mount options as I needed to clarify if nodiratime was supported (it is). I got this URL and am sharing it for those interested: <http://www.namesys.com/mount-options.html> Among others, the noatime and nodiratime fields help speed up things. Plus of course nolog which disables the writing of writes to the journalling area. Journalling paraphernalia are still done (work on disabling this is supposedly being done), but at least the writes are not. I don't know how much improvement this will do, though. --> Jijo -- Linux, MS-DOS, and Windows NT ... ... also known as the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
