What about using DNS round robin? You can have a pool of web servers that
either get their files from a central file server via NFS, or mirror each
other by some method. DNS round robin should allow each server a
more-or-less equal chance at getting a particular bit of the load. This
should be much more economical than getting hardware to handle the load
balancing. :)
