I rwally don't know what it is but it seems that most S3 video cards,
especially the Virge (this includes Trio/3D) cards seem to have problems not
only when you want to go full-screen, but also when you're switching virtual
consoles (or launching/exiting XFree86), from graphical to text mode, and
vice-versa. It just crashes. I had experience on this with a couple of boxes
using S3 video cards. I think it's because S3 Virge series video cards uses
some kind of a hack around a VESA frame buffer and the Readme file for Virge
with both Xfree86 3.x and 4.x says they're not done implenting all the
features and there's still some bugs to be fixed. :(

But I don't seem to have any problem with my TNT2. I can play VCDs in full
screen. Don't know about DVDs because I don't have a DVD drive yet, but when
I acquire one, I'll defintely use DeCSS to watch DVDs, especially anime. ;)
But then again, there's already an open-source DVD player that used some
ideas from DeCSS to bypass region encoding (what's the name of that program
again?)

It's just too bad that Nvidia doesn't have open-source drivers... for now
only I hope or my next video card will be a Matrox. ;)
