I don't exactly know what you are trying to do, but in my case:
I would print the document into a *.ps (postscript format) file (print to file on
disk),
then use ps2pdf (part of the GhostScript utilitites) command line utility to convert
it to
a PDF file. It works great and the fonts are pretty good.
