I've found out what the problem is. Even if I have gdm running, and I have the following in /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf:
[xdmcp] Enable=true HonorIndirect=true MaxPending=4 MaxPendingIndirect=4 MaxSessions=16 MaxWait=30 MaxWaitIndirect=30 Port=177 I can't get a login prompt. I took the trouble of installed X-Win32 on my Windoze box just to see if I got a chooser. I do not. I get this error "Manager unwilling" so obviously GDM is NOT doing its job here..
