  de-militarized zone. a dmz box is then a box in a dmz. *:)

  the dmz is usually referred to as the less-protected part of the network.

  i guess what jimmy was trying to say is, if the box is in a dmz, itd
  be in the best position to sniff packets because the packets themselves
  are still not being filtered or blocked.
