ahhh, that's scary.  i was going to switch to using this, but i think i'll 
stay with vigr and vipw for now :).  vigr and vipw are better than just
editing the files directly since they protect against concurrent editing
of the relevant files.

one thing that i noticed about vigr, it does not keep group and group-
synchronized.  this doesn't matter much since group takes precedence.
but it's confusing.
