#_ Hello. I'm very new to Linux and I enjoy using it because of its
#_ stability. I'm using Redhat 7.2 and I was able to connect to the
#_ internet using my dial-up connection. Can you please help me on how I
#_ can connect Linux using myPLDT DSL? I have no idea where to start
#_ configuring. Hope you guys can help. Thanks.

Do you have a NIC installed already? If no, you need one.

Connecting via myDSL is easy, you will need to install rp-pppoe. I think
red hat 7.2 has it in one of it's CD's.

Once installed just run adsl-setup and answer the questions.
Basically:
ETH='eth0'
DEMAND=no
DNSTYPE=SERVER

Once finnished just run adsl-start to connect. Also read
/usr/share/doc/rp-pppoe-<version>/README & HOW-TO-CONNECT

The firewall that comes with rp-pppoe is ipchains based; if RH 7.2 uses
iptables, I suggest you get firestarter at
http://firestarter.sourceforge.net or use whatever RH7.2 has. Look
around in your CD's maybe firestarter is there.
