Hello Michael,

Understand the concern, java is an essential technology for mission-critical
applications.

For example, my last position before moving back to the Philippines was as a
senior technology manager/systems manager for WellsFagro Bank - managing the
development of their strategic b2b wholesale banking portal.

For example, I this system went from about 1,000 to 11,000++ business
clients in eight months and provided essential banking services like wire
transfer, stop payment services and intraday reporting.

Java helped enable our team replace an information builders reporting server
that was having considerable problems scaling and keeping pace with report
requests - despite using one sun e10k server with eight CPU's: The result
was a considerable performance enhancement and strategic advantage taking
reporting time from over three minutes to less then 30 seconds!

Hope this helps provide one good example of mission-critical applications
using java technology.

Best Regards,

        Dave Moen
