I am quite pleased to announce that the PLUG website (http://plug.linux.org.ph) now has an event list and even web-based administration for that. Currently only the events admin can add an event. I can change this if people feel strongly about this.
How to get your event announced: Send the events admin e-mail. That's me for now. sachac at iname dot com. Mark the subject with PLUG-EVENT NEW <title of event> The body of the message should look something like this: <title> <start> - <end> <location> <description> How to update or delete the event: Send the events admin e-mail. Again, that's still me. PLUG-EVENT [UPDATE|DELETE] title <new details> You may cc the mail to the relevant mailing list, I suppose. =) I want to avoid many event update and attendance threads, but feel free to talk about agenda, food, transpo, that sort of thing. Check the web for event details. It gets parsed by a human (me) for now. We'll move to a web-based version as soon as the login/personalization of the PLUG website gets underway. ALSO, I am looking for a volunteer events admin. This person will get all the event mail and use my web-based event admin script. If the events admin feels particularly nice, he or she will watch the plug, plug-org and plug-misc lists for events that come up, although it is really the event organizer's responsibility to inform the events admin. If the events admin is feeling _really_ nice, the events admin can post a lkml-friends-like summary of the discussion so far. If members post events (next paragraph) then they can also update the thread summary or description as necessary. ;) Another way of doing this is to let all members post events. That would do away with the need for an events admin. If you have thoughts about this feature, mail me off-list. I'm working on preregistration and attendance, but I foresee myself getting a sort of login system working first. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Sacha Chua <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 3 BS CS Ateneo geek =) Ateneo Cervini-Eliazo Networks (ACENT) tel: 63(2) 426-6001 loc 5925 BOFH excuse #140: LBNC (luser brain not connected) _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
