I highly recommend your "advisees" (are you their thesis adviser or
something?) check out Mailman to find out how they can write a generic
anonymizer. Mailman has an option where sender information is removed
(From, Sender, X-Sender headers) and replaced with the list
administrator's address. This covers the actual header munging work.

Then they can also check out AMaViS, to figure out how one can configure
Sendmail (or Postfix or qmail, if they want to expand to a more
MTA-neutral implementation) so that all email is sent to a program for
processing before actual delivery.

Fetus or not fetus I was irritated by the fact that a reply I thought out
was completely ignored, and met with a repeat post with very slight
modifications. My apologies for what may have been a rather "harsh"
