Fellow PLUGgers, and Linux and OSS enthusiasts,

As a result of the highly successful face-to-face meeting held in
Starbucks, 6750 Ayala Ave., City of Makati, 1930h-2150h, 23 February 2002,
it is with great pride that I announce the PLUG Open Source Software
Developers (OSS-Dev) Special Interest Group (SIG).

The OSS-Dev SIG face-to-face meeting was graced by the following PLUG
personalities, in alphabetical order:

- - Jacq Carballo
- - Juan Paolo Carballo
- - Sandra Jean V. Chua
- - Jefferson Garcia
- - Chris Haravata
- - Melchizedek Mauleon
- - Robert DC Reyes
- - Federico Sevilla III
- - Ian Sison
- - William Y. Yu

The OSS-Dev SIG aims to serve as a venue for advocating and providing
voluntary support for various OSS Development Tools. These include, but
are not limited to, compilers, programming utilities, revision control,
and programming languages. The group aims to serve as a forum for
information exchange among local developers in order to supplement
existing OSS documentation.

The OSS-Dev SIG will also function in dual role as the PLUG's
OSS-Development cell in assisting Linux and OSS-based community projects
like those spearheaded by the Advanced Science and Technology Institute
(ASTI) and the National Computer Center (NCC).

Through the Free Network Group, a public mailing list has been set up for
all parties interested in joining the PLUG OSS-Dev SIG. To subscribe,
please use the web-based interface at:

<http://lists.free.net.ph/mailman/listinfo/oss-dev>

Discussions of the cell will also take place in realtime on the #OSS-Dev
channel on the irc.free.net.ph network of IRC servers.

We invite all interested software developers to join us online via these
two fora, as well as physically during our face-to-face meetings.

On behalf of the PLUG OSS-Dev SIG,

Jijo Sevilla.
