True, butI've already tried different discs (ie, brand) of the same version of the cd, and it still produces the same errors. Anyway, I've been able to remedy the problem, I think. I loaded with a Win98 bootdisk, but I deprived the boot-up from autoexec.bat and config.sys, which had all the "start with cdrom, start without cdrom.." stuff plus the himem.sys. Then, I used loadlin again, this time with the vmlinuz and initrd.img from the pcmcia.img on the RedHat install disc instead of the usual boot.img. It went well and even detected the cdrom drive without the help of windows. Seems that there wasn't enough memory to load the ramdisk with all what the win98 bootdisk loads? I was also thinking of using emm386, but I forgot how :P I'll try to use the updated anaconda images from the redhat site, as suggested by philip, and see if it boots normally (sans the loadlin utility). jOoN _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
