Hi everyone,

I just stumbled upon this now, although it's not exactly new (it was done
on machines with kernel 2.4.2). Disclaimer: the benchmarks were done by
the author of Courier IMAP. This has pros and cons. The pro is that this
guy knows IMAP and knows Maildirs, so his analyses are pretty good. The
con of course is that hey may have had biases for Courier IMAP, his own
software. On the whole I think this will help those of us thinking about
whether to shift to Maildirs or not.

(Note that I shifted to Maildirs ever since I first encountered qmail,
this was circa RedHat 6.0/6.2, when Postfix was not yet called Postfix.
I have been very happy with its performance especially when working with
my ever-growing PLUG mailbox).
