I use coldsync to sync my visor over usb. I have no problems with it. I think they use the same module which is the visor module. In my box, all I have to do is "$modprobe visor", then I run coldsync.
You might want to use pilot-link. They already have usb support but it is still a developer's release. If you got it to work then you mgiht also want to use jpilot as the gui for pilot-link.
