I'll focus on the first line and overlook the second as I don't understand what that 
really means.

Primarily, Linux/PPC is particularly benefitial for Mac users with pre-PPCG4 
processors especially when these systems are running Mac OS X. Linux/PPC is, as said 
earlier, faster than the Mac OS (this has to be qualified). With Linux, you can give 
new life into old Macs. You could turn them into a database server, a web server, a 
gateway/router, email server all for free. There are free products for the Mac OS that 
may match that, but the older Mac OSs do not provide the features that the Linux 
kernel does: preemptive multitasking, protected memory, etc.

So it all boils down to what you intend to do with Linux on your Mac. If you primarily 
use the Mac as a desktop operating system, then you'd definitely have to compare the 
ease-of-use between the Mac OS and Linux+X11+whatever. It never hurts to try, though...
