Consider using dansguardian instead of squidguard. It's easier to compile and it is a true content filtering proxy unlike squidguard.
That said, squidguard will not work on <= mandrake 7.2 and <= redhat 6.2 because the db2 included in glibc is of a lesser version than what it requires.
