For anyone just encountering this issue, a good starting point is the explanation of the relationship between GNU and Linux: http://www.gnu.org/gnu/linux-and-gnu.html
Now, I wonder why there is not a suggestion that FreeBSD be called GNU/FreeBSD. I have a vague idea why, but I think the answer would clarify the GNU-Linux relationship (by counter-example --- by showing what the GNU-FreeBSD relationship is and that it is qualitatively and maybe quantitatively not the same). I didn't see anyone with an "unbelievably loud Hawaiian shirt" in the installfest scene. Was the shirt shown, or was that projector just very blurred and weak. The text was hard to read and the colors looked all washed out. Was that projector of the UP Film Center bad...or was that just a bad videotape copy? Anyway, thanks to the organizers for the effort. (How much did it cost to acquire or rent? Is the media still available to show elsewhere or does it have to be returned?) I wish it could have been promoted more though, and not necessarily by the organizers. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
