I doubt it'll be a pleasant task for you to develop this system using
the Korn Shell. I don't think you have to get into a power struggle with
your administrators, anyway. You can work around (and with) the current
systems.

Why don't you install Python, Perl, or some other friendlier scripting
language on a GNU/Linux box, which will act as your glue between the
Oracle database server and the Exchange email server, doing the grunt
work of creating customized email messages using a template and perhaps
handling and rerouting email that gets sent to your central
[EMAIL PROTECTED] mailbox?
