I like to agree with manny here:

"I don't see how Red Hat limits one's freedom to
choose anything. One doesn't have to choose Red Hat
8.0, and one can still install the full KDE on it."

If RedHat does that with its distributions, that their
prerogative. They may be reasons behind it. And we
may not like that reasoning. So, if we don't find
that acceptable then we use another distribution. Or
another option for us who still opt to get the RH
distribution is to install it ourselves.

It's the same thing I think most of us would think
here about *icrosoft *indows OS. Well, some of us
would rather live with that kind of commercial
software... let them be. But for others who would
rather have softwares bundled with their source code,
then they prefer OpenSource.

*icrosoft and RedHad do not limit our freedom of
choice. They actually enhance our freedom by giving
us options. In the end, it is us who make the choice.
Now, for KDE to maintain it's market share then it
must sustain the demand for it. And in order to do
that, it must give something more than what is being
offered by RedHat. Well who said being OpenSource
would replace the Darwinian principle: "Survival among
the fittest."

Actually, it would work well for all of us in the end
if this would become a healthy competition between KDE
and GNOME. Everybody becomes happy because everyone
gets the best of the two.

:)
