I use exceed too with Linux and Solaris. Both
works fine.

If you want a free X server for windows, get
cygwin with the X server component. And change
the default Window Manager to windowmaker while
your at it. I'm using it since last year, pretty
good.

There are times when cygwin with the X server is
actually better than Exceed. Example, there is a
bug when you run RM6 (Raid Manager 6.2 for
Solaris), double click the icons and the dialog
box won't open. I found the solution with
cygwin. Use it, and it works all the time.
