MultiTicker Reports the News
============================

If you're like me, you're virtually connected to the Net all the time.
Whether on dialup/broadband/whathaveyou, I'm almost always wondering
what's happening around the world.

It's one thing to use an RSS/RDF aggregator to gather together in one
place all the news that you think you should read. But I've been
looking for a ticker tape type applet for my desktop that gives me the
headlines at a glance without my having to launch my browser or
aggregator.

MultiTicker fits the bill for me. There are a variety of other applets
(like SlashApp) that integrate with your panel (oops, this is a Gnome
particular thingy), that provide Weather stats, Stock Market ticker
tape feed, and a lot of other neat toys to tinker with. What won me
over to MultiTicker was that I could easily add a variety of RDF
sources to feed it. No, I have not explored widely for other applets
that work similarly yet, but I will probably write about them when I
do run across them.

In Debian, you can install this as super-user by issuing:

  apt-get install multiticker

I'm especially keeping an eye on BBC World and CNN World news. ;)

Have fun!
