the thing here is: it doesn't support PageMaker file format. :-(

Maybe a look at Scribus would be worth while...

It's supposed to be a desktop publishing tool like PageMaker, but then I
haven't evaluated it that much yet. It's available in debian, and should
be available on the web.

apt-get install scribus

should do it, and you can read more about it if you like. :)

HTH.

This is certainly a big help. Sir, may I request you to
coordinate this in the Bayanihan development mailing list.
We are currently in the process of taking volunteers on
different parts of the distro. Please include a description
of the proposed application.

Sir, may I ask, will this application become a project for
your class?

Thank you very much for extending your help to Bayanihan
Linux.

let us make a pagemaker clone for linux. from what i have
seen and not seen, i think that's the greatest pull/need/want.

what do you think?

To all professors and educators in this list:

We are greatly in need of workforce to deliver Bayanihan Linux
on time. I would like to suggest we tap on Filipino student's
talents by giving them incentives to contribute to this open
source project. Perhaps our dear professors could take a
small chunk of work and delegate it to their respective class,
specially those tasks related to their subject (like software
engineering) or current topic of discussions. Students would
be more than happy (in fact proud) to have their own projects
incorporated on a real linux distro instead of just filed away
in the library. Even students not into programming can
contribute, such as in the localization effort. Even media
arts students can contribute in the design of the user
interface, icons, and symbols. We can make Bayanihan Linux a
repository for our student's great works to be appreciated
and enjoyed by the world at large.

Despite my flowery talk above, bayanihan is really in need
of more heads and hands. Please do consider =)
