i never thought of reuniting with DJGPP <www.delorie.com>

well, DJGPP helped me in porting linux apps to MS Win.
the apps compiled seamlessly without any modification
eventhough the code contains posix dependent codes
(termios, pthreads, etc.). *i should even earned a week slack
if wasn't for my ignorance. =p

the app runs faster compared to when ported on MS SFU
(Services for Unix, which is btw, based on Cygwin.
and of course, MS open-sourced it (GPLed) ).

it's almost perfect except for the "fork" thing, hehehehe.
maybe i'll do it the apache(for Win32) way.

other possible solutions for porting posix-dependent
codes to win32 are the ff:

   - PThreads for win32 <http://sources.redhat.com/pthreads-win32>
   - PW32 (Posix over Win32 Layer) <pw32.sf.net>
   - UWin (Unix for Windows) <www.research.att.com/sw/tools/uwin/>

i hope that DJGPP is not only good for beating the deadlines. =)

is DJGPP still being used in the academe?

HTH
