Can you tell me what is it with Firebird that you found less than satisfactory? Was it speed? Reliability?
I have used Firebird in small to medium sized databases and have no performance or reliability gripes, but I'm very interested in other people's experiences.
Footprint-wise, Firebird is the smallest of them all (and yet is
more feature-complete than MySQL). v1.5 now has an embedded version
which comes in the form of a 1.5MB dll (for Linux, it's probably a
shared object of similar size). This makes deployment of off-the-shelf
non client/server apps that use Firebird as a 'desktop database' a
snap.
the ms win version seems to be ok but for the gnu/linux version.... here's our experience with firebird: locking occurs whenever we reached the 2000+ th "select" query.
have you experienced the same?
