One option will be to build thin-clients that will help maximize the
power of the newer beefier hardware by letting it feed more users. Of
course this has its limits. Older hardware may not support the higher
resolutions that some users will start getting used to, and if you're a
"pure server" environment thin clients don't matter.

Alternatively you could donate them to a local public school. I figure a
PC-less public high school will be happy with even lower-end hardware.
Heck, we could even work out a GNU/Linux setup for grassroots free
software evangelization, eh?
