You see, our gateway was okay at first, hanging up the phone line after around 3 minutes (180 seconds) of INACTIVITY as set up.
But now it won't hang up the line! I'm suspecting that all these new internet worms are the culprit in that they (or their owners or their websites or whatever) keep TRYING to send packets to the gateway computer from the internet so that the there is ACTIVITY always and so the IDLE TIMEOUT expires and resets every time there is an incoming packet! Is my assumption correct? Does the idle timeout monitor the incoming data along with the outgoing? Can anyone please explain to me what kinds of packets (and from where) reset the IDLE TIMEOUT counter?
Thanks,
Victor
