Actually the service I mention is just an example. I have some scripts which detects and log whatever malfunction in its routine function. I just need to incorporate a mailer script to that so I could also recieve the problem detail via email.
Hope you have more idea to enlighten me.
thanks

Godd day!!
Does anyone have a script that will send mail?
My machine is not a mail server, just another server. I want it to email me when ever its service gone down by means of a mailing script.
i think what u need is a script to check if that particular service (what is it?) goes up or down then just pipe it to mail (man mail). for me i use nagios (www.nagios.org) for a comprehensive checking of services (it has mail alerts, too). i also write some plugins to check services not covered by nagios-plugins.
The script will be run by cron I guess.
Thanks
