I was trying to get Postfix to receive mail without having to run
fetchmail (sort of like a mail server). I ran the following command on
pc01.local:

   service postfix start smtpd

Is this correct? All I know is that prior to running this, I could not
telnet to port 25 of pc01.local from another machine (I could, however,
telnet to port 25 when I ran telnet from the pc01.local and connected
to localhost -- 127.0.0.1). Once I ran the above command, I COULD connect
and send email to pc01.local from another machine.

If the above command was correct, how do I make it "permanent"? I can't
seem to find the right command in the postfix, smtp, smtpd, or master man
pages.

I suspect it's a configuration parameter in /etc/postfix/main.cf or
/etc/postfix/master.cf, but I can't seem to find the right one. But I
guess I should be glad Im not trying to configure sendmail! :-)

God bless!
