That's why gnus rulez when it comes to doing customizations: with elisp, you
can practically do everything with it, such as washing the mail so it strips
markup, rewrap the paragraphs and even rearrange the citations so they run
correctly. It also has an excellent filtering that automatically deletes
duplicates (so even when I fetch my mail manually and run formail -s procmail
once or twice when I'm not around, it still manages to finish and give me all
my mail without any hassle).

You can probably do that with other MUAs, though. Its just that with gnus, you
just get it to work the way you want ;)
