actually sir, that's what i really wnt to do since it's very easy to do it
using PHP-freetds.
But for reasons pertinent to our org (the developer involved uses ASP), it's
gonna be quite difficult telling that to them.

I know what you mean. I see two options that you can probably talk them
into.
1. If they're so bent on continuing the use of ASP, you can justify the
acquisition of Chilisoft. It's not cheap, though. 
2. If spending that much is not an option, why not use IIS on Windows?
