You have to recompile gcc to explicitly use uclibc if you havent done so.
Actually, in many cases you may also have to rebuild the whole root
filesystem using the proper kernel headers + uclibc to have a clean start.  
The steps if done manually are rather involved but some people automated
the whole task. See buildroot of Erik Andersen for example
[www.uclibc.org]. I heard Dan Kegel has done a similar tool too but I
havent tried.
